IntroAs a modern day Bard, I’ve spent many years learning how to become an effective storyteller. My expertise is in finding the common threads that weave through history and culture to capture the hearts and minds of the listener. It’s important for me to be able to do this well and remain as creative as possible in the process. The first key skill to learn when it comes to the art of Bardic storytelling is the ability to "google" and use this resource to become knowledgeable about the world around us. From finding stories about ancient battles to researching facts about plants and animals, Googling the topics related to a story you’re about to tell can open up a wealth of information and provide an audience with interesting and intriguing tales. How can do I also consider the practice of using “how can do” and “how can not do” when searching on Google an invaluable tool. Not only can this type of query provide insight into how the process of achieving certain goals work, it can also open up a whole range of possibilities. Instead of relying on an outdated understanding of the process, “how can do” searches offer an immediate and constantly updated understanding of a specific task. Furthermore, using this tool has enabled me to break out of the preconceived ideas of how to craft stories and create something new and different. It gives me the freedom to experiment and see what results, whether it be taking on a whole new narrative structure or exploring alternative angles and angles that can only be understood when Googling something. How can not do Finally, “how can not do” can also be useful when storytelling. By looking at a process and how it fails, you can start to gain insight into why it isn’t successful and in turn become more proficient at storytelling by understanding how it’s better done. It’s like learning how not to ride a bike, which in the end can make you better equipped for cycling success. As a Bard, Googling the topics related to stories, taking on the process of “how can do” and “how can not do” have become invaluable tools. These methods help to broaden my horizons, bring a fresh approach to storytelling and provide me with the opportunity to develop into a well-rounded Bard who is able to capture the hearts and minds of listeners everywhere.
